scenery

Now for the scenery of Quebec. Quebec was a beautiful Province before but once we actually got there it was amazing. There was some color to the trees, but we don't think it was fall sincewewould be going novembre. But still the water was clear and we could see all sorts of fish under neath it. The mountains were beautiful during all times of the day and they just stood out. But I think the part I liked most in Quebec for the scenery was the morning and Jackson stayed inside most of the time because of the cold.

Of course it would be a hockey game played in the country that it came from. we would see have a would be a professional game, or even a childs game of hockey we think it would still be cool to see one. But the most prefered kind of game we would like to see would be a professional one because they are professionals.

Souvenir Purchases

As we travel around Quebec more specifically Quebec city we are sure to find some interesting souvenirs to bring back from my trip. That is if I don't eat most of it first.

One of the things that we would by would be a chunk of chocolate from the Choco-Musée Érico. you can't really resist chocolate. And were pretty sure no one can either. And what's more is that it is made right there so you are pretty much guaranteed to have very good chocolate. we just hope we don't eat it all.

Another thing we think It would be cool to buy Canadian maple syrup. If it comes from that country then were sure it would be awesome. Either way we would have bought some anyway just to take home. And as well as to use on waffles and pancakes.

Enough about food souvenirs I would also buy some crafts. sand sculptures . we would especially buy something that is made out of glass or metal such as something made out of bronze or iron.

Holidays and observances

There are quiet a few holidays that are celebrated in Quebec. There are cinq nationwide holidays and trois provincal stauatory holidays. But our vaction we just passed a pretty important day. It is on june 24. On that particular date is National Holiday of Quebec, which as it implies is the national holiday for this particular Canadian Province. But the festivities for this holiday start on the 23rd and go through the 24th.

The kind of festivities that go on through the two days are:
Parades
Bonfires
Fireworks
Feasting
Drinking
Musical concerts
Flag waving
Patriotic speeches
Contests

this looks like a really fun holiday to celebrate.

The other Holidays that are celebrated in Canada/Quebec are:
National Patriots' Day- on the Monday on or before may 24th of every year
Good Friday or Easter Monday
Thanksgiving- on the second Monday in October
Construction Holiday- most popular time for summer vacations and takes place on the last two weeks of July

Tourist attractions

There are many different tourist attractions that are present within Quebec. Expanding from art and culture to entertainment and history.

There are many things that we would like to do in Quebec during our10 day vacation. And they all seem very interesting and fun.

The first thing we would do would is go to the top of the Observatoire de la Capitale. It is a 757 foot tower where we can see Quebec city at the very top. From atop of this tall tower we will be able to see the whole city and take it all in as you look.

The next thing we probably would like to do is go to the Choco-Musée Érico. The Choco-Musée Érico is a chocolate shop and museum. There we will be able to see chocolate history from the Mayan times to this day. we can also learn about ancient and modern accessories, chocolate-making techniques and many more. And at the shop they have a large assortment of chocolate treats from hand made chocolates to chocolate themed pastries such as cookies and cake. Even hot chocolate, and homemade ice cream, yogurt and sherbet. Who wouldn't want to go to this place.

Another thing that we would like to do is go see a performance by the Orchestre symphonique de Québec or in English the Quebec Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra can have a large concert program that anyone could enjoy. Such a program would include classical, pop, and jazz selections. we think you would enjoy this very much.
Sure there are more attractions that we would like to go to but these would be my top three things that we would like to do besides everything else that you could possibly do. So far our trip has been a fun and exciting one espically with all of the chocolate.

Meals and Menu Highlights

Since we will be staying at the Hotel Manoir Victoria we will be eating at one of the two restaurants inside the building, or maybe even both. One restaurant that is on site would be the La Table du Manoir Restaurant.

This restaurant is located on site like stated up above in the paragraph. The La Table du Manoir Restaurant offers French Cuisine. And it is fine French Cuisine every night. They also offer a Table d’hôte menu for the guests depending on the season. Table d’hôte is where the restaurant has a set menu with only a few items with a certain price for each product. Because of being a set menu the table in which this particular choice is being held at is also more then likely set for the course.

The other restaurant that is located on site of the hotel is the Bistro St-James. This restaurant specializes in pastas and sandwiches. They will make you pasta meal or you sandwich meal to how you like it.

Other then those two we will see if we could find some other restaurants that are off site of the hotel so I could also look around the city while looking for a restaurant.

The Canadian Flag

This is the Canadian Flag. Of course it is Canada's National Flag. It has a bit of an interesting history about it that we was found interesting.

This flag was one of three choices for Canada's flag. They didn't offically have a flag until 1964 that Prime Minister Lester B. Person appointed a commity of people to resolve the issue. They wanted a 'truely distinctive flag' for their country. So out of three choices the desgin as you see above was chosen. This desgin was created by George F. G. Stanely and John Matheson. These two men based the flag's desgin on the flag of the Royal Millitary College of Canada.

Map of Canada

The light purple Province, or the one with the two circles on it is the Province in which I am taking my vacation. And in the smaller circle is the general area I will be staying in within the Province of Quebec.

Currency exchange

In Quebec currency can be exchanged at banks which will normally be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the hours can confirmed by calling. The currency that is used through Quebec is the Canadian dollar which is divided in cent units called cents. There are coins for un, cinq, dix, and vingt-cinq cents as well as for $1 and $2. There are bills for $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100. At some places such as stores will check $20, $50, and $100 bills to make sure that they are not fake. In many places you are able to use credit and debit cards. And if needed we can use an ATM in order to get money then trying to exchange it at a bank which is only open for such a short period of time. What we found interesting about the currency is that it comes in different colors, and those colors would be red, purple, blue, green, or brown. And the colors depend on the denomination. Also $1 in Canada is about 97 cents from the American dollar
